THE CDC OF MARLBORO COUNTY

The Community Development Corporation of Marlboro County (CDCMC) is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to "create housing, community and economic development, leadership and educational opportunities for the citizens of Marlboro and surrounding counties." CDCMC was organized in February 2002 by a representative cross-section of Marlboro County; Bennettsville (county seat); grassroots, faith-based and local civic leaders and interested citizens at large. CDCMC's state charter was issued on 03/14/2002 and the IRS 501 (c) 3 status was issued on 11/19/2002. CDCMC is a true comprehensively focused, community based, multi-racial organization, which maintains very strong collaborative partnerships with local, regional, state and nationally recognized public and private housing, community and economic development entities. In its 8 plus year history, CDCMC has established a variety of need-based service initiatives, including First Time Home Buyer and Financial Literacy training (emphasis on credit counseling); a highly successful Individual Development Account (IDA) program and a small business program (special emphasis on women entrepreneurs). CDCMC launched additional Affordable Housing Program (AHP) Services which includes down payment and closing cost funding for low-wealth first time home buyers and housing rehab services for needy homeowners.
