Programs offered by the Community Development Corporation of Marlboro County *Must Qualify
Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance
Qualified applicants can receive $15-20 thousand dollars toward the purchase of a home. This is for first time home buyers and the applicant must meet all HOME program guidelines.
Families that have very low-to-low income may be eligible for owner-occupied housing rehab, home repairs, emergency repairs, etc. Please contact Faye Primus at (843) 535-0930 for more information about this program.
Foreclosure/Mortgage Default Clinics
This program is available to anyone who is behind in their mortgage payments or is about to go into foreclosure. CDCMC has partnered with Family Services, Charleston, SC, to provide this free service. The clinics last approximately 1-2 hours. Please contact Sylvia Palmer at (843) 454-2188 for more information and/or to set up an appointment. All information is kept confidential.
Individual Development Accounts (IDA) are matched savings accounts designed to help low-wealth families invest in their home-ownership, education, and/or entrepreneurship. This program will match the first $1000 savings with a $3000 (3 to 1) match for a total of $4000. This program is offered to all college bound high school juniors and seniors in addition to all qualified applicants. Applicants must attend classes and receive a Certification of Completion upon completing classes.
The first time home buyer education classes are held in the CDCMC conference room located 106 E Market Street, Bennettsville, SC. These classes are free and all materials are provided. The only cost to the applicant is the cost of a tri-merge credit report ($20 single/$30 couple). The classes last 5 - 6 /weeks and participants will receive a Certificate of Completion after completing classes. CDCMC, partnering with SC State/1890 Extension, offers Small Business Development Assistance. For more information, contact Robin Robertson at (843) 454-2188 or come by the CDCMC office to pick up an application.

Wireless Internet Access
CDCMC is now providing wireless internet access free of charge to most of downtown Bennettsville.
Computer Lab
CDCMC now has a computer lab with 14 new computers. This lab is open to the public from 9:30 am to 4:45 pm. There are plans for extended and weekend hours in the near future.
